More and more people are turning to vacation rentals rather than just staying in a hotel room. The advantages of renting an apartment or villa are many, especially if you are planning to spend more than a week at one destination.
Staying in a ‘home’ will allow you to immerse yourself into the local culture and history and very often you might get a beautiful apartment in the center of town for the same price a hotel room would cost you.
A recent itinerary I put together for a family traveling to Italy inspired me to share about this style of accommodation when traveling.
There are some real gems in cities like Florence or Rome, Italy. One of my personal favorites I found in Florence is a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment just steps from the Piazza Santissimi Annuziata and about 300 m from the Piazza San Marco. It enjoys a lovely view of Florence and the Cupola of the Duomo. Everything is right at your doorstep; a good selection of restaurant, shops, cozy cafes and all the culture and history Florence has to offer.
You could be traveling for 3 weeks throughout Europe and spend in villas or luxurious apartments in each place you are visiting instead of a small hotel room. There are many options in almost every country.
