As another month is coming to an end, I wanted to send out one more tip which can be a real life saver when you encounter long layovers at airports on your way to and from your travel destination.
Sometimes you might be able to get that amazing airfare but realize that you arrive at 6:00am in the morning and your connecting flight isn’t until the late afternoon or evening. This can actually be a blessing in disguise, especially if it’s one of those ultra long flights.
Most hotels which are located near or even in the airport of cities around the world offer day rooms. These will allow you to check-in in the morning and stay until the afternoon or evening. The cost is usually anywhere between 40 – 60% of the regular night rate and sometimes they charge in 2 or 4 hour blocks which can be even cheaper.
I have made use of day rooms myself on numerous occasions in Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, San Francisco, Frankfurt and London and found them to be a real life saver, making the trip much more enjoyable and allowing me to have some rest, a swim in the pool, a delicious meal and a nice refreshing shower before my next flight.
I have also booked day rooms for my clients who really appreciated the time to rest in a nice setting rather than being in the hustle and bustle of a busy airport.
A couple of my favorite places for a day room is probably the Novotel at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport or the Crowne Plaza at the Singapore Changi Airport – beautiful rooms, great pool, gym, a few really nice food choices and even a spa.
There are always options to make your travel experience an enjoyable one, from the beginning to the end. 🙂
