I had the opportunity to spend some personal time at Agua Nicaragua for the Christmas-New Year vacation week. I went myself and was looking forward to decompressing and having some quite time and adding a little yoga into the mix. I’m glad I did because it’s simply lovely there – IF you enjoy a rustic kind of high-end experience.
Their website says: “Nestled on a private white sand beach along Nicaragua’s Pacific coast, almost hidden amongst the treetops, lives a resort like no other. Private, secluded villas, constructed of sustainable hardwoods and furnished by local artisans are your home while you enjoy Nicaragua at it’s purest.” I would have to agree with that!
One thing I can say for sure. By the end of the week there I was in pretty good shape from walking up and down the many steps that take you through the wooded complex. If you don’t like stairs this is not the place for you – unless you take a beachfront room and stay there the whole week. Even if you want a massage you would have to walk the steps to the spa complex. But I didn’t mind a bit – and got in good shape over my 7 days.
If you are not one to just lay on the beach consider getting out and seeing this beautiful country. Consider visiting: the Masaya Volcano, an Organic coffee plantation, an organic and permaculture farm, a waterfall, the lava flows at night, the Granada isletas and Ometepe island (a UNESCO world bio-diversity site). Or how about a Volcano Mombacho hike/Canopy Tour (Trekking around the volcano’s four craters. Then do as the howler monkeys do going from tree to tree, aided by ropes and harnesses walking the forest canopy? Breathtaking.)
Located on the secluded beach of Redonda Bay, nestled on a private white sand beach along Nicaragua’s Pacific coast almost hidden amongst the treetops, lives a resort like no other. Private, secluded villas, constructed of sustainable hardwoods and furnished by local artisans are your home while you enjoy Nicaragua at it’s purest.

The accommodations at AQUA were designed to place you into the heart of nature, and allow you to enjoy an up close and rare personal experience of what is becoming an increasingly endangered habitat.
